Recipe notes and expert tips

  • Mix it up
Use goat cheese instead of mozzarella cheese.
  • Storage
Keep leftover pizza stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Important
Different pizza ovens, pizza stones, or pans all cook in different ways. Watch your pizza as you may have to increase or reduce the cooking time.

What is the best way to cook a pizza?

We recommend cooking your tomato pizza one of three ways.

  1. In a pizza oven.
  2. Using a pizza stone.
  3. On a pizza pan.

A pizza oven is fantastic, our pizzas taste just as great as they did when we ate them in Italy!

Charred pizza crust and toppings that are perfectly cooked make this our preferred way to cook pizza AND they are ready in a matter of minutes..

Pizza cooking in a pizza oven.

A pizza stone is a great cost efficient option, you can buy a pizza stone to fit into your kitchen oven.

The stone heats up to a high temperature, you place your pizza on the hot pizza stone and the pizza crust will have an even cook, it’ll be a lovely and crispy crust.

A pizza pan has holes that allow heat to reach the crust and cook far better than if you used a baking sheet.

While you can use a baking sheet to cook a pizza, it’s really not the way to cook a great pizza, and if you do choose this method, line your sheet with parchment paper.

What to serve tomato pizza with

It’s totally possible to find yourself scoffing pizza with nothing else to accompany it, it’s a meal in itself, isn’t it?

But we do love to have a tasty dipping sauce with it.

Dip it in sour cream and chive sauce, garlic dip, pizza aioli, or tzatziki (a Greek yogurt dip).

Feeling really hungry? Have a side of sweet potato fries or spice it up with peri peri fries.

We love to serve it with a fresh Italian salad with balsamic vinaigrette.

What are the best tomatoes to use for pizza?

We’ve used a mixture of different tomatoes, heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and yellow tomatoes, using large tomatoes and small tomatoes varying tomatoes to get a variety of flavors and colors.

There’s nothing quite like a pizza with fresh ingredients that looks amazing and tastes divine!

Can I make my own pizza dough?

Absolutely you can!

Homemade easy pizza dough is the best and we’ve got a recipe for it coming very soon, so please check back!

You can also use store bought pizza dough or buy a readymade pizza crust, just make sure you buy a quality brand.

How to store leftover pizza

Our pizzas don’t normally last long enough that we have to worry about storing them!

If you do have leftover tomato pizza, then store it in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

You can also freeze it for up to 3 months.
