Recipe notes and expert tips

  • Substitute
If you don’t have bagels, substitute them with English muffins.
  • Bagels
We’ve used a plain fresh bagel, but you could use gluten-free bagels or sesame bagels – use your favorites or whatever you have to hand.
  • Crispy
For crispy pizza bagels, spread olive oil before the pizza sauce.
  • Air fry
You can also make pizza bagels in the air fryer.
  • Storage
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and freeze for up to 3 months.

Topping variations

Add your favorite pizza toppings, and ensure you don’t overload the bagels, or they’ll turn soggy.

Try these other toppings:

  • Instead of pizza sauce, try marinara sauce or even tomato paste.
  • Red or green bell peppers
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Vegetarian cooked sausage
  • Vegetarian bacon bits (in replacement for Canadian bacon)
  • Diced pineapple
  • Sautéed mushrooms
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Italian seasoning
  • Pizza seasoning

How to store leftover pizza bagels

Leftovers will keep for up to 3 days when stored in the fridge in an airtight container; they have a tendency to go soggy, so reheat them before eating.

They’ll also freeze for up to 3 months.
