Why you’ll love our spicy sriracha aioli recipe

  • It’s one of the easiest dipping sauces you’ll ever make.
  • Dip your fries in it, veggie sticks, spread it on burgers, on salads, or put it in a sandwich, you do you!
  • Better than Wendy’s or Subways, this is cost effective and delicious!
  • All 5 of the ingredients are 100% vegetarian.

Super easy to make in 2 minutes, this will transform a lunchtime sandwich or salad, you wouldn’t believe how full of flavor this versatile sauce is!

What ingredients do I need?

You’ll need all the ingredients shown in the photograph to make this fresh tasting spicy sauce.

Ingredients needed crushed garlic, lime juice, sriracha sauce, mayo, and salt.

What does aioli mean?

Aioli means a garlic oil and originates from Spain.

Extra virgin olive oil will traditionally be used in an aioli.

But we haven’t used olive oil in this spicy hot sauce recipe.

What is sriracha sauce?

Originating from Thailand, sriracha is a hot and spicy sauce that is generally used as a dipping sauce or served with seafood.

Sriracha chili sauce is made from a pasted of chilies, vinegar, garlic, sugar, and sauce.

It certainly gives a spicy kick, so add a little at a time and keep tasting until you get the spicy heat that you are comfortable with.

Which sriracha sauce should I choose?

If you’re buying your sriracha sauce, you may find that your grocery store has many different types.

We buy the flying goose brand, we love it and first tasted it in Thailand, so we go with what we love.

In our store, they had sriracha hot chili sauce, sriracha green chili sauce, sriracha super hot sauce, sriracha yellow chili sauce, sriracha sweet chili sauce, and sriracha black chili sauce.

So, which one should you buy?

We like our sriracha aioli HOT, so we chose sriracha super hot chili sauce.

The good news is that the sriracha hot sauce and the super hot sauce are both vegan and gluten free.

But if you don’t like intense heat, then we’d recommend choosing sriracha hot chili sauce, and cautiously adding the quantities.

Mix and taste often until you get the perfect consistency for YOU.

Is this just sriracha mayo?

No, it’s not.

We include 3 additional ingredients that make all of the difference.

They give subtle depth to this simple spicy aioli.

Garlic, freshly squeezed lime juice, and kosher salt, all work their magic in this sauce recipe.

Is sriracha aioli spicy?

Yes, it is.

Sriracha hot sauce is made from chili peppers, so our sriracha aioli is naturally spicy.

But as we combine it with mayonnaise, its heat is lessened.

If you prefer a milder sauce, then simply use less sriracha.

Needless to say, if you like it HOT, then just add more sriracha sauce!

Notch up the flavor

We’ve used store bought mayonnaise in our homemade aioli as we want it to be quick and easy to make.

But if you were to use homemade mayo, then this will add a wonderful flavor dimension to your spicy aioli.

Make it vegan

If you have a vegan guest visiting, then it’s easy to make a vegan sriracha aioli.

Simply replace regular mayonnaise with vegan mayo, as this is the only ingredient not suitable for vegans.

What do I serve this spicy dipping sauce with?

Sriracha aioli is a tasty and versatile dipping sauce, we love nothing more than to put a large dollop of it on our veggie burger, on a veggie hot dog, in a sandwich, or on a potato pattie.

We’ll dip our potato chips, zucchini fries, sweetcorn fritters, or zucchini fritters in it.

We’ve even been known to dip our Indian spiced aloo bonda, cheesy carrots, and leftover roasted potatoes in it.

That’s the great thing about this spicy aioli, you can do whatever you want with it.

There are no hard and fast rules.

How do I store it?

Keep your sriracha aioli sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Recipe notes and expert tips

  • Out of fresh garlic?
If you don’t have fresh garlic then use garlic powder instead.
  • Substitute the lime juice
If you’re not a fan of lime juice, then simply use lemon juice to gain that citrus flavor.
