Recipe notes and expert tips

  • Make them vegan
The only ingredient you’ll need to sub is mozzarella cheese; use a plant-based alternative.
  • Sub out flatbread
Use naan bread or pita bread; the taste will slightly differ, but it’ll work just as well.
  • Important
Pizza ovens, pizza stones, or pans all cook differently. Watch your pizza; you may have to increase or reduce the cooking time.

Recipe variations

Virtually any pizza topping can be used on a vegetarian flatbread pizza; try pesto pizza, mushroom pizza, or vegan pizza.

You can add vegetarian Parmesan cheese, red onion, cherry tomatoes, and BBQ sauce, or why not add veggie pepperoni?

Use vegetarian versions of pesto sauce, alfredo sauce, or marinara sauce instead of pizza sauce.

You can also sub the flatbread and use naan bread or pita bread.

Choose what suits YOU and what you have in your fridge.

How to store leftover flatbread pizza

Keep in the fridge in an airtight container for up to three days; either reheat leftovers or eat cold.

You can also freeze flat bread pizza for up to three months.

A question we often get asked is, can you reheat pizza in an air fryer? Yes, you can!

How does flatbread differ from pizza dough?

So what’s the difference?

Flatbread and pizza dough are made from flour, water, and salt, but there are some critical differences between the two.

Flatbreads are generally thinner and more flexible, don’t contain yeast like pizza dough, and are typically cooked on a griddle or in a skillet rather than in a pizza oven.

They have a shorter rising time, giving a denser texture and a more rustic flavor.

I need that pizza oven because we make pizza all of the time. I ended up sliding the flatbread onto my pizza stone on the bbq grill and it was a hit with the family. I never thought of using the naan.

Accidentally stumbled upon your pizza recipe last week and decided to make it for Friday dinner. We had a party of 8 people, so these pizza was perfect dinner! They ate the whole batch and I had to make a second one. The ingredients work so well together and the fresh basil with pepper made for a winning combination. I recommend serving them piping hot because the mozzarella did a nice stretch. I used naan bread to make these pizza.

I made these last night and was so impressed! I have such a craving for pizza all the time but it’s just not that convenient for me to get to the store so to have these ingredients on hand is a much better idea for when the cravings strike.

I loved the way the flatbreads tasted with the pizza toppings. I’m definitely going to always have a pack of these at home to do this again. No more messing around with pizza dough. This is just as delicious and you can add any toppings you want so the variations are endless.

I went with cheese and tomato with basil too though, and they were just perfect 🙂 and the hubby loved them as well.
