How to make homemade pizza rolls with step-by-step instructions

A complete printable recipe and the measurements in both US customary and metric are available in the recipe card below.

Divide your pizza dough in half, and on a lightly floured surface, roll out two rectangle shapes approximately 10 x 12 inches.

Using your fingers, push dents into both rectangular doughs to prevent them from bubbling.

Brush both pizza dough tops with olive oil. Now spread pizza sauce (you can use marinara sauce if you prefer) evenly on your dough and sprinkle with either Italian seasoning or pizza seasoning.

Next, add shredded mozzarella cheese and then lay the vegetarian pepperoni evenly on top, leaving ½ inch at each edge.

Rolling the pizza dough into a log.
Roll the pizza into a log shape and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes. Once chilled, cut the pizza log into 1-inch slices.

Now roll your rectangular pizzas into a tight log, place them on a baking sheet seam side down, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Preheat your oven to 400°F/200°C.

Take your pizza logs out of the refrigerator and cut each log into 12 slices about 1-inch thick; using a pizza cutter makes this easy to do.

Brushing a pizza roll with olive oil.
Brush the rolls with olive oil.

Place on another baking sheet lined with parchment paper and cook for 15-20 minutes, until the sides are golden brown.

Serve immediately and garnish with extra shredded mozzarella cheese, vegetarian Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil.
