A full printable recipe and the measurements in both US customary and metric are available in the recipe card below.

If you are making homemade French fries

Preheat your oven to 425°F/220°C.

First, cut your potatoes in half, then turn your potato lengthways and cut them into halves again, which makes quarters; finally, cut them into halves again.

Place the homemade fries in a single layer on a large baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.

Then, add cayenne pepper and toss to coat the fries evenly.

Cook until your fries are tender and golden brown, approximately 25 – 30 minutes.

If you are using frozen French fries

Preheat your oven according to the packet instructions for your French fries.

Place the frozen French fries in a single layer on a large baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.

Then, add cayenne pepper and toss to coat the fries evenly, then cook according to the instructions.

Oven fries with spices on a baking sheet.
Drizzle French fries with olive oil, toss in Cayenne pepper and cook.
Add cooked fries to an ovenproof dish, pour buffalo wing sauce over fries, scatter cheese, and broil until the cheese has melted.

While the oven fries are cooking, add the buffalo wing sauce to a small saucepan over medium-low heat; when the sauce bubbles, reduce the heat to very low.

When the French fries have cooked, grab a paper towel-lined plate and add them to it, this will soak up any excess olive oil.

Then, add the cooked fries to an ovenproof dish and pour the buffalo wing sauce evenly over them.

Drizzle ranch dressing over the top and add green onions.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Scatter two-thirds of the grated cheddar cheese, blue cheese crumbles (we used crumbled Gorgonzola), kosher salt and pepper, and broil until the cheese has melted.

Scatter the remaining cheese on top, drizzle with ranch dressing, and add green onions, and you’re all set!

Serve your Frank’s loaded fries immediately with a side of ranch dressing, and enjoy!

What are buffalo fries?

If, like me, you’re a vegetarian, you may be wondering what buffalo fries are.

Buffalo fries, or buffalo ranch fries (or buffalo chips recipe for our English audience), are fried food made with buffalo meat; you can also find buffalo chicken fries.

These fries are the perfect blend of salty and savory with a hint of sweetness from the ranch. They’re our new favorite!

The meat is usually marinated in a hot sauce or BBQ sauce before it is fried. Buffalo fries are typically served with a dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing.

While buffalo fries are not traditionally vegetarian, we’ve made ours 100% vegetarian and healthier too!

What do I serve these fries with?

Our fries are perfectly served with a side of ranch dressing.

But you can also serve them with a veggie burger, vegan chicken pattie, and a side of onion rings.

Can I use frozen french fries?

Yes, you can!

Using frozen fries makes this recipe even easier!

We’ve included full instructions in our recipe card below.

Mix it up

As with most of our recipes, we encourage you to mix up the ingredients to suit your own tastes.

You can use waffle fries instead of the traditional French fries on these buffalo ranch fries.

Use mozzarella cheese instead of cheddar cheese.

Add a little garlic powder for extra flavor.

Just add what YOU think will work for your own tastes.

What’s the best buffalo sauce to use?

A good buffalo sauce should be thick, spicy, and flavorful.

It should also be vegetarian-friendly so that everyone can enjoy it.

Here are two of our favorite buffalo sauces on the market today.

First up is Frank’s Red Hot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce.

This sauce has a perfect balance of spice and heat, making it great for dipping and cooking.

It’s also vegetarian-friendly, making it a great option for those looking for a meat-free buffalo sauce.

Next is Cholula Hot Sauce Original.

This sauce is slightly thinner than Frank’s Red Hot, but it packs just as much flavor.

It’s perfect for those who like their buffalo sauce with a little less heat.

And like Frank’s RedHot, it’s also vegetarian-friendly.

So, if you can lay your hands on either of these buffalo sauces, then you’ll get a great result!

How do I store leftover buffalo ranch fries?

Your buffalo ranch fries will keep for up to 3 days when stored covered in the fridge.
