How to choose the best zucchini

Zucchini is so easy to find, most grocery stores or farmer’s markets stock zucchini and when it’s in season, it tastes great!

Take it to the next level and grow your own zucchini, they are easy to grow and they grow quite prolifically.

Nothing tastes better than a homegrown zucchini!

But reality bites and not everyone can grow their own, so how do you choose the best zucchini?

Look for fresh dark green zucchini that are approximately 7 inches long,

How do I store them?

You can store any leftover zucchini in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

When reheating your zucchini, place them in the air fryer basket and air fry them for approximately 4 minutes at 350F, until they have completely warmed through.

They are not suitable for freezing.

Even less mess

The great thing about air fryer cooking is that there is little mess.

But we’ve found that by using air fryer parchment paper liners, the mess is even less.

They are well worth checking out.

How to make these into air fryer zucchini chips

If you are looking for air fryer zucchini chips, then all you need to do is to adapt this recipe slightly.

You’ll need to slice your zucchini thinner, around an eighth of an inch.

Follow the cooking instructions but just keep an eye on them as they will need a few minutes less.

When they are cooked, your air fryer zucchini chips will be thin and crispy, just like potato chips.

How does an air fryer work?

The way that air fryers work is that they very quickly circulate hot air.

If you look at the top of your air fryer, that’s where the fan and heating mechanism sit.

Air fryers have a basket that you place the food in and then the air rapidly circulates down on and around the food.

By circulating the air, this imitates deep-frying, because the hot air, then crisps the outside of your food.

This means that you don’t have to submerge your food in oil.

This means there’s no need to use oil and, generally speaking, air fryers are a lower in fat and healthier form of cooking.

How to make air fryer zucchini with step-by-step instructions

Making our air fryer zucchini is easy if you follow our simple instructions.

First, preheat your air fryer to 400°F/200°C, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Place your zucchini slices in a mixing bowl and add extra virgin olive oil, Italian seasoning, lemon juice, kosher salt, and black pepper.

Toss to combine and transfer them to the preheated air fryer basket and air fry until you get your desired consistency, we fried ours for 20 minutes.

Process shots, photo one place zucchini slices in bowl, add olive oil, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper; photo two, place zucchini slices in air fryer basket and fry for 20 minutes; photo three, serve immediately.

Make sure you shake the basket to turn the zucchini halfway through so that they cook evenly, so they were crispy yet soft at the same time.

Once cooked serve your zucchini slices in a bowl and garnish with fresh parsley and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
