Air fryer toast has to be one of the best things we’ve tasted in a long time, simple but SO good. Delicious toast made in just a few minutes, just the way YOU like it, you can’t beat it!

Two slices of air fry toast.

Why you’ll love this easy air fryer recipe

  • Toast in the air fryer is SO easy!
  • It’s so much better than any you can make in a toaster oven.
  • It’s 100% vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free if you use gluten-free bread.

Bite into a perfectly crispy piece of air fryer toast and you’ll see what all the fuss is about, this is possibly the best way ever to make toast!

Ingredients you’ll need

As you can see, it’s just bread, your favorite choice of bread.

Ingredients needed.

What bread makes the best air fryer toast?

I like to think that the bread that makes the best toast in air fryers is your favorite bread!

Having said that, day-old slightly stale bread works great, white bread, whole wheat bread, or why not try making Texas toast?

Cook what you love, experiment, and find what works for you.

What goes with air fryer toast?

Try your air fryer toast with honey, peanut butter, jelly, jam, yeast spread (Marmite), cheese, marmite, or just whatever you fancy!

Why not have air fryer asparagus on toast?

It’s delicious!

It’s a bit quirky but we love arrabbiata sauce or marinara sauce on our toast.

Or why not make avocado toast, scrambled egg on toast, or fried egg on toast – the choices are many!

What’s the best air fryer?

This is all a matter of opinion!

We can only tell you what we know and love.

We’ve tried the Ninja foodie and the Instant pot Vortex fryers, and we prefer the Instant pot, it’s just a little more user-friendly.

Our favorite air fryer is the Instant pot Vortex and we like this for its intuitive display, the filter stops lasting food smells, and you can see your food cooking through the glass panel and light function.

Can an air fryer replace a toaster?

Most definitely!

An air fryer produces excellent quality toasted bread and can replace the needed for a toaster oven.

And the extra bonus?

It’s one less appliance on the counter!

How many slices of toast can I make at once?

I can’t give a defined answer to this question.

It all depends on how big your air fryer basket is or how large your air fryer oven is.

Can I make toast ahead?

This is a good question, in theory, you could make it ahead and keep it warm in the oven.

But there’s nothing better than freshly cooked air-fried toast with the butter deliciously melted.

What about cold toast you may ask?

No, cold toast tastes bad to my taste buds, it’s heavy and is like eating cardboard.

But hey, if you like cold toast, then knock yourself out!

An easy trick to make the best-toasted bread in an Air Fryer

If you like nothing better than a slice of toast bread with melted butter, then we’ve got a great tip for you on how to use an air fryer to your advantage!

Around two minutes before your toast is ready, add butter to each slice while it’s still in the air fryer, and continue to air fry it.

The air frying machine will then melt the butter for you, so when it’s cooked it’s the most delicious buttery baked toast.

Recipe notes and expert tips

  • Don’t skip preheating
Don’t be tempted to skip preheating the air fryer, if you don’t preheat, the toast tends to become soggy.

So including time for pre heat 5 mins, total time is 12 minutes! Laughable.

Not sure why this is laughable Alan, we tested this in our air fryer and these were the timings. But thank you for your feedback, much appreciated 🙂
