What do you serve lemon aioli sauce with?

We love slathering it on a sandwich.

Drizzling it over air fryer asparagus.

Dollop it on a good veggie burger or vegan chicken burger.

Cut up chunky vegetables and dunk them right into this delicious thick sauce.

Do I have to use fresh lemon?

Absolutely you do! When making this recipe, you’re not only squeezing fresh lemon juice.

You’re also using fresh lemon zest.

You use a whole fresh lemon, apart from the seeds.

So, store bought lemon juice simply won’t make the grade.

If you haven’t got a fresh lemon at home, save the recipe for another day.

You’ll thank me later for this.

What is Lemon Aioli?

Aioli is traditionally made with olive oil and raw egg yolk.

It’s easy to see why mayonnaise is used as a quick substitute.

But they do taste a little different.

Aioli uses fresh lemon juice, whereas mayonnaise is made with vinegar.

But with all the will in the world, you don’t always have the time to make traditional aioli.

At the end of the day sometimes you don’t have the energy to make an egg mixture.

Or you may not even have any raw eggs to hand.

And we don’t think there’s any shame in grabbing a jar of mayonnaise to use instead!

What’s better is if you are looking for a way to use up homemade mayo.

This would make this aioli taste even better and make all the difference!

So, are we pretending that this is a true aioli recipe?

Nope, we are certainly not!

But it’s a quick, easy, and mightily delicious everyday quick aioli food tribute to it!

Make it vegan

It’s so easy to make our lemon aioli recipe vegan.

Simply use dairy-free mayonnaise. That’s it!

Mayonnaise is the only ingredient that’s not vegan!

Lemon aioli stores well when stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
