What do I serve pesto aioli with?

Our basil aioli is great used as a dipping sauce, dip pita bread, or raw vegetables in it.

Spread it on bruschetta as a tasty appetizer.

Drizzle it over air fryer asparagus and you’ll never want to eat asparagus in any different way.

We like to serve it as part of a buffet alongside ranch dressing, spicy Greek whipped feta dip, tzatziki, and chipotle aioli.

Mix it with pasta and add cherry tomatoes and you have a delicious lunch or light dinner.

Add a spoonful of pesto aioli to a veggie burger or dip a zucchini fritter in it.

We love it on a sweet baked potato and love nothing more than dunking our sweet potato fries in it.

We think you’re going to love our pesto aioli, no matter how you choose to eat it!

Aioli – what is it exactly?

Aioli is made with raw egg yolk and olive oil.

You’ll find that mayonnaise is used as a quick substitute but it’s not quite the same.

Mayonnaise uses vinegar whereas aioli uses lemon juice.

But we think that sometimes you just need to cut yourself some slack.

It’s far easier to just open a jar of olive oil mayo and quickly squeeze some lemon juice

Would homemade mayo be better?

Of course, it would, but this is an easy recipe, so we’ve used store bought.

So, while this is not a traditional aioli recipe, it’s still equally as tasty in our opinion and is far more than just pesto mayo.

Perfect make ahead dipping sauce

One of the (many) great things about this pesto aioli recipe, is that you can make it ahead.

And not only that, it’s actually better if you make it ahead.

Make it a day before you need it and store it covered in the fridge.

You’ll then give the flavors time to marinate, and this extra time is well worth it.

This then makes it the ideal party dip, great for game nights, Thanksgiving, or Christmas.

Store bought or homemade pesto?

If you are in a hurry and don’t have any homemade basil pesto or the time to get the blender or food processor out, then, by all means, use store bought.

However, if you’ve got 5 minutes, then making your own basil pesto is so easy and it tastes SO good.

That fresh basil flavor just can’t be beaten!

All you’ll need to make fresh basil pesto is vegetarian Parmesan cheese, fresh basil leaves, fresh garlic, toasted pine nuts, blanched almonds, fresh lemon juice, lemon zest, and extra virgin olive oil.

You can also freeze it, so make a batch and always have some when you need it.

How do I store it?

Our pesto aioli will keep for up to a week when stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
