Whenever we make buffalo fries in the air fryer, we have to batch cook them, they go REALLY quickly, and everyone loves them!

What ingredients do I need?

You’ll need all the ingredients shown in the photograph below.

Ingredients needed to make air fryer buffalo fries, blue cheese, black pepper, salt, olive oil, hot wing sauce, green onions, French fries, chives, cheddar cheese, Cayenne pepper, and ranch dressing.

What do I serve buffalo fries with?

Our air fried buffalo fries are a good standalone comfort meal.

But they’re even better when served with a veggie burger or a vegan chicken burger, both are delicious recipes.

They are great alongside air fryer frozen onion rings or air fryer Mexican street corn.

What are buffalo fries?

Buffalo fries are French fries covered with buffalo sauce, melted cheese, ranch dressing, scallions, and chives.

There are different variations, some are made with chicken breasts or bacon, but naturally, as this is a vegetarian website, we don’t use these ingredients!

Buffalo potatoes are also delicious, you just need to remember to cut them into bite sized pieces.

Which is the best air fryer to use?

This is a difficult question to answer.

Obviously, there is no way that we can test every model of air fryer, that’d be impossible.

What we can do though, is tell you the air fryer we’re loving at the moment.

This is the model below, we like it because it’s quiet, you can see the progress of the cooking, and it cooks well.

Can I use frozen fries?

Of course you can!

Sometimes you just want an easy recipe.

There’s nothing wrong with grabbing a bag of frozen fries from the freezer and using them instead of making homemade fries.

You can store your buffalo fries covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.

How to make air fryer buffalo fries with step by step instructions

Making our air fried buffalo fries is easy if you follow our simple instructions.

For air frying frozen French fries

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F/205°C.

Place your frozen fries in your air fryer basket and lightly spray with olive oil, add cayenne pepper and toss to coat evenly.

Cook for approximately 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.

Check the fries and continue cooking if needed.

For air frying homemade French fries

Preheat your air fryer to 400°F/205°C.

Place your fries in your air fryer basket, and lightly spray with olive oil, add cayenne pepper and toss to coat evenly.

Air fry for approximately 25 minutes, flipping halfway.

Keep an eye on the fries as they may need either a shorter or longer cook time.

Add French fries to air fryer basket, spray with olive oil, sprinkle Cayenne pepper, and toss to coat evenly.

Once cooked, add hot buffalo sauce, scatter blue cheese, cheddar cheese, and add salt. Cook until the cheese has melted.

Building the buffalo fries

While your fries are cooking, add the buffalo wing hot sauce to a small pan over medium heat and heat until the sauce bubbles, then remove from the heat.

When your fries are cooked, remove them from the air fryer basket and transfer them to an ovenproof dish.

Pour the buffalo sauce over the fries, scatter blue cheese, cheddar cheese, kosher salt, and pepper.

Place the ovenproof dish in your air fryer basket and cook until the cheese has melted.

Remove them from the air fryer and drizzle ranch dressing over the top, scatter green onions and fresh chives.

Serve immediately and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds frozen fries
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 4 ounces cheddar cheese grated
  • 4 ounces blue cheese crumbled
  • Kosher salt and black pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons ranch dressing
  • 2 green onions finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chives chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat your air fryer according to the packet instructions.
  • Place your frozen fries in your air fryer basket drizzle olive oil, add cayenne pepper and toss to coat evenly. Cook according to the packet instructions.
    3 pounds frozen fries, 3 tablespoons olive oil, 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • While the fries are cooking add the buffalo wing sauce to a small pan over medium low heat, reducing the heat when you see the sauce bubbling.
    1 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • When the fries have cooked remove them from the air fryer and add them to an ovenproof dish, pour the sauce evenly over the fries, scatter cheddar and blue cheese, kosher salt, and black pepper, and broil until the cheese has melted.
    4 ounces cheddar cheese, 4 ounces blue cheese, Kosher salt and black pepper
  • Drizzle with ranch dressing, add green onions and chives, serve immediately and enjoy!
    3 tablespoons ranch dressing, 2 green onions, 1 tablespoon chives
