In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
You can use an electric hand mixer or good old elbow grease with a wooden spoon.
Add fresh grapes to the cream cheese mixture in the large bowl and toss to coat them.
Transfer the grape salad to a serving bowl and refrigerate it until you are ready to serve. It doesn’t need to be covered but feel free to put a lid or cover it in plastic wrap.
Before serving, sprinkle brown sugar over the top of the salad and scatter the chopped walnuts or chopped pecans over the top of the red and green grape salad.
