What ingredients do you need for a passion fruit martini?
You’ll need passion fruit liqueur, vanilla vodka, passion fruit puree, freshly squeezed lime juice, sugar syrup, and half a passion fruit.
Sweet, yet tart, and so refreshingly drinkable. Stylish, sophisticated but thoroughly down to earth, this is our favorite cocktail of all time.
Do I need to use fresh passion fruit?
Yes, you do if you want the full passion fruit effect.
The icing on this cocktail cake is the floating half a passion fruit, it’s iconic and just finishes the cocktail drink off with style.
You could leave it out but it would affect the whole WOW factor of the cocktail.

What is Passoa?
Passoa is a passion fruit liqueur, it’s probably one of the most popular, but feel free to use the passion fruit liqueur of your choice.
What should I use for the shot?
You can’t have a passion fruit martini without a shot glass of fizz!
It’s entirely up to you what kind of fizz you use for the shot, we use Prosecco, but you could easily use champagne or sparkling wine.
Do I add the sparkling wine shot into the martini glass?
No, you don’t.
The sparkling wine shot is meant to be sipped alongside the martini.
You have a sip of martini, then a sip of sparkling wine.
Some people do pour the sparkling wine straight into the martini glass, but that just doesn’t make sense to us, it would be better to add it to the process.
Drink it separately.
Is a passion fruit martini the same as a Pornstar Martini?
They are similar but different.
If you take a look at our Pornstar Martini recipe, you’ll see it uses a couple of different ingredients.
What cocktail glass should I use?
We’ve used a coupe glass for our passion fruit martini, we like the look of it and the wide rim, that’s perfect for placing a fresh passion fruit half in.
Naturally, you could use a martini glass or any glass that has a wide rim.
Your passion fruit martini will be even better if you use a chilled cocktail glass.
Do I need any special equipment?
You’ll need a cocktail shaker, a Hawthorne strainer, and a jigger, but don’t worry, we’ve got some easy fixes with items you’ll find around your home if you don’t have these, see our recipe tips.
How do you get the foam on a passion fruit martini?
To get the iconic foam on your passion fruit martini, you’ll need to place all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously.
It’s the vigorous shaking along with the ice cubes that gives the passion fruit martini its beautiful foam topping.
Recipe notes and expert tips
- Run out of vanilla vodka?
Use standard vodka and replace the sugar syrup with vanilla syrup or you could use a couple of drops of vanilla extract. - No passion fruit puree?
Use extra passion fruit juice instead. - Mix it up!
Some people like to add passion fruit pulp to the cocktail shaker for extra passion fruit flavour. - Keep it fresh!
Don’t substitute fresh lime juice for bottled lime juice, the vibrancy of the flavor just isn’t the same. - Don’t have a cocktail shaker?
Use a mason jar, firmly screw the lid on and shake vigorously, it’s not perfect but it’s a good workaround. - No Hawthorne strainer?
Don’t worry, just use a tea strainer instead.
