Recipe notes and expert tips

  • Chocolate chips
We recommend using semi-sweet chocolate chips, our favorites; they are just SO good.
  • Substitute
If you like peanut butter, use peanut butter chips instead or mix the two!
  • Parchment paper
If you don’t have air fryer parchment paper, use a hole punch to punch holes in your standard parchment paper, and If you’re using a basket-style air fryer, it’ll also make it super easy to remove the cookies.
  • Cooling
When you remove the basket from the air fryer, leave the cookies to cool for a few minutes before transferring them, or they could fall apart.
  • Storage
Keep cooked cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. Freeze cookie dough or cookies for up to three months.
  • Preheat
We pre-heat our air fryer, but you probably won’t need to if you have an oven-style basket-type air fryer.
  • Watch closely
Every air fryer cooks differently; different brands and capacities can mean that your food will need a longer or shorter cooking time, so keep a close eye on them.

How to store leftover cookies made in the air fryer

Your baked chocolate chip cookies will be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

You can also freeze either cookies or the cookie dough for up to 3 months; we recommend you flash freeze in portion sizes and then transfer to a freezer bag; this way, you can take individual chocolate chip cookies whenever you feel the craving.

How long do you have to air-fry frozen cookie dough

You can air fry your chocolate chip cookie dough from frozen; simply air fry them for approximately 8 – 15 minutes.

Speaking of cookie dough, check out this cookie dough cake.

Do you have to use parchment paper for cookies in air fryer?

Yes, we recommend using air fryer parchment paper, which is a particular type specifically for the air fryer, as it has holes in it.

You need holes for the hot air to circulate and for the cookies to cool perfectly.

If you don’t have air fryer parchment paper, then take some regular parchment paper and use a hole punch to punch holes in it.
