How does this differ from a classic Bloody Mary?
In a classic Bloody Mary cocktail, the ingredients include vodka, tomato juice, fresh lemon juice, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, celery salt, celery stick, and a lemon wedge.
In a Bloody Maria, we swap out the vodka for tequila and replace the celery stick with chilis, giving it a real Mexican flavor.
Why do people drink Bloody Marys or Bloody Marias in the morning?
You’ll often find that a Bloody Mary or a Bloody Maria is a cocktail that people will drink in the morning.
It normally follows a heavy night of drinking alcohol when someone is feeling a little delicate.
They’ll drink a Bloody Maria because it contains a shot of alcohol, in this case, tequila, and the tomato juice will rehydrate and give you a vitamin c kick.
The science behind drinking a Bloody Maria at breakfast can seem a little sketchy but we can’t deny that this tomato-based, tequila-infused, vegetarian Worcestershire sauce dashed cocktail with a real hot sauce kick, certainly makes us feel better!
Can I use a Bloody Maria mix?
You’ll find that you can pick up Bloody Mary mix in the stores rather than Bloody Maria, but you don’t need store-bought.
In fact, don’t buy store-bought as we’re going to show you how you can make it much better!
Using quality ingredients, you can control the mix that you make for your Bloody Maria cocktail.
Your cocktail, your way.
Do I have to use fresh lemon juice?
Yes, definitely use fresh lemon juice.
Buying lemon juice in a bottle won’t taste anywhere near as good as freshly squeezed lemon juice and it only takes a minute to squeeze a lemon.
What cocktail glass should I use?
A Bloody Maria is a long drink, so we recommend using a highball glass.
