Why you’ll love this recipe
- Not sure if you want to drink a mojito or a margarita? We’ve got you covered; you’ll love this combination!
- If you want to serve a more unusual party cocktail, this is perfect!
What is a mojitorita?
A mojitorita is a wonderful blend of two classic cocktails, a mojito, and a margarita.
Mint, lime, and tequila are blended to make a really refreshing lime-fuelled summer cocktail.
Do you have to muddle this?
In a classic mojito recipe, you’ll muddle the mint leaves and the lime wedges, with sugar, as you need the flavors to be released into the cocktail.
With a mojitorita, we blend both the mojito and margarita and so we shake the mint leaves, with sugar and crushed ice to gently bring out the flavors.

The best of both worlds, a perfect blend of two classic cocktails, a mojito and margarita, giving a sensational sparkling refreshing lime burst. This cocktail is genius and so easy to make!
Could I add a salted rim to the glass?
A classic margarita has a salted rim, so seeing as this cocktail is half margarita, then why not!
Simply wipe a lime wedge around the rim of your chosen cocktail glass, then turn it upside down and swirl it in salt that you’ve placed on a flat surface.
Hey presto, you have a salted rim!
Do I have to use fresh lime juice?
Yes, you do.
A mojitorita is all about the lime, lime is an essential ingredient of the cocktail.
If you use store-bought lime juice with all their preservatives, then the flavor and punch of the lime will not be half as strong as if you’ve just squeezed your limes.

Can I use ice cubes instead of crushed ice?
We don’t recommend shaking your mojitorita cocktail with ice cubes.
If you use ice cubes instead of crushed ice, you’ll bash the mint leaves to bits, the objective is to gently bruise the leaves, so they release flavor.

What kind of glass should I serve this in?
You’d be forgiven for wondering if to serve your mojitorita cocktails in either a mojito glass or a margarita glass, and you wouldn’t be alone!
We chose to serve them in a tumbler glass, which is a great neutral option and works a treat.
A highball glass would work very well too, but you can use whatever glass you like.
- Don’t have a cocktail shaker?
That’s not a problem, simply take a sterilised mason jar, follow the instructions, secure the lid and shake – it’s not perfect but will be a good workaround until you have a new cocktail shaker! - Don’t have an ice crusher?
Just take a sealable bag, place ice cubes in it and bash them with a rolling pin. - Going to add a salted rim?
Make sure you salt your rim first as once your mojitorita is in the glass, you can’t turn it upside down!
