Vegetarian Spaghetti and Meatballs Recipe

Nothing screams comfort food more than tasty vegetarian or vegan meatballs cooked in the most delicious marinara sauce, on a bed of perfectly cooked spaghetti. We first cooked this filling meal for a friend who was taking part in Veganuary one year, they had no idea what to eat and asked us to help, they didn’t want anything bland and when they tasted this, they never went back to traditional meatballs.

They are packed full of lentils, mushrooms, oats, and herbs, they really do pack an umami punch and simply are delicious!

You’ll need a food processor to make this recipe.

They are so tasty and they freeze well, so you can make a batch and then freeze them so you have them whenever you want.

What’s the best tomato sauce to use?

Using good quality tomato sauce is really important, after all this delicious dinner is essential spaghetti, veggie meatballs, and tomato sauce, so it’s important to get it right.

You could use store-bought tomato sauce for convenience and speed but if you’ve got more time, then make your own.

Homemade marinara sauce

Homemade marinara sauce is just so good and it knocks the spots off any jar that you can buy!

Made with olive oil, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and herbs, you’ll notice the difference that homemade will make.

Make your own Arrabiata sauce

Arrabiata sauce, if you like tomato sauce with a spicy kick then this is the recipe for you!

Made with olive oil, tomatoes, garlic, a generous helping of fresh basil, and, of course, red pepper flakes!

Use either one of our recipes and you’ll have sensationally tasting veggie or vegan meatballs, spaghetti, and tomato sauce.

Is this suitable for a vegan?

It certainly can be!

To be vegan friendly make sure you either buy or make the best vegan meatballs.

Also, make sure you use plant-based vegan parmesan cheese and ensure that the spaghetti isn’t egg-based.

How do I store it?

If you have leftovers, then they will store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

You can either eat them cold or reheat them, you may want to add a little water if you are reheating, to loosen up the sauce.

How to make veggie spaghetti and meatballs with step-by-step instructions

It’s easy to make our spaghetti and meatballs recipe if you follow our simple instructions.

In a large pan over medium heat, add your marinara sauce and meatballs according to the packet instructions.

Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook your spaghetti for 2 minutes less than the packet instructions.

When your spaghetti is cooked, drain, add to the meatball and sauce and toss until fully combined.

Serve immediately with an optional garnish of vegan finely grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
