We first made a fun, nutty Irishman cocktail to celebrate St Patricks Day, but it’s too delicious to only drink once a year!

What is the best Hazelnut liqueur?

We’ve used Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, which is a delicious Italian liqueur, but you can use your favorite brand, or you could even make your own!

Nothing brings a smile to friends faces more than when they take their first sip of a nutty Irishman cocktail, sweet, creamy, and nutty, it’s the perfect after dinner drink.

Sure, why not?

You could drink it as a nutty shot or over ice on the rocks.

Nutty Irishman variations

There are many variations of a nutty Irishman (which sounds like one of those cute boyfriend names); our recipe uses Baileys Irish cream and Frangelico liqueur.

Variations include adding Irish whiskey, vodka, or whipped cream on top.

You can make it into a nutty adult’s hot chocolate, nutty Irish cream coffee after food; the sweetness works perfectly with the bitterness of the coffee.

What is the best Irish cream to use?

Our personal preference is Baileys Irish cream, but once again, feel free to use the Irish cream of your choice.

What type of glass should I use?

If you are making the mixed nutty Irishman version, we recommend using an old-fashioned glass or a tumbler.

If you are making the layered version, we recommend using a shot glass.

    If you’re making the layered shot recipe, try using whipped cream instead; place the whipped cream on top of the hazelnut liqueur; you could even have Irish whipped cream.

In a chilled cocktail glass filled with ice cubes, pour hazelnut liqueur and Irish cream, then stir to combine.
