Why you’ll love this drink

Our envy cocktail is stunning, served in a martini glass, this blue-green cocktail is mixed with tequila and has a delicious tropical taste to it.

Using only three ingredients, it’s easy to quickly make these cocktails for a summer party or when you have unexpected guests that you want to impress.

You don’t have to be a bartender to make this fun green-blue drink, if you follow our simple instructions below, you’ll amaze your friends with a high class, professional-looking cocktail that will become one of your favorite party recipes.

Is blue curacao alcoholic?

Yes, blue curacao is alcoholic, the brand we used was 20% ABV, but brands do differ, so check the label for exact details.

You can get an alcohol-free version of blue curacao, it’s known as blue curacao syrup.

Easily mistaken for each other, make sure you chose the correct blue curacao!

Stylish, sweet with a hint of the tropics, this is a stunning cocktail that you can easily make in just 2 minutes – what’s not to love?

Is this like a blue lagoon?

While they are both a blue color, our envy cocktail is different from a blue lagoon cocktail.

Our blue drink is made with tequila, blue curaçao liqueur and pineapple juice, whereas a blue lagoon cocktail is made with vodka, blue curacao liqueur and lemonade.

Can I use crushed ice instead of ice cubes?

We don’t advise using crushed ice as this will dilute your cocktail and make it taste watery.

What glass should I serve an envy cocktail in?

You really want to serve this stunning blue curacao cocktail in a glass that will showcase its color and style.

We’ve served our envy cocktail in a martini glass; the angles of the glass really make a big statement and it looks really special.

If you don’t have a martini glass, then chose a glass that will feel special, you could use a coupe glass or a vintage champagne glass, they would both give this great cocktail with blue curaçao the chance to shine!

Can I scale this recipe up?

Yes, you certainly can! It’s a great drink to scale up if you want to make a big batch.

In our recipe card below, just multiply the servings of the cocktail by however many you want, and all of the quantities will be instantly calculated.

Can I make this ahead?

Yes, just mix the tequila, blue curaçao and pineapple just in your cocktail shaker as the recipe instructs, but then pour the mixture into a jug or glass and leave it in the fridge chilling until you are ready to drink it.

Don’t leave the ice cubes in it because that will dilute your drinks.

What can I garnish it with?

We’ve used a maraschino cherry as we love the contrast between the green blue color of the drinks and the vibrant red color of the cherry.

You could also garnish your cocktails with small wedges of pineapple, which would look great too and it would reinforce the pineapple flavor of the drink.

Recipe tips and notes

  • Don’t have any tequila?
Use vodka instead, using vodka will change the flavor, but it’ll still work as a substitute until you get some tequila.
  • Missing a cocktail shaker?
That’s no problem, we have a temporary fix! Just use a mason jar with a lid, this will work perfectly well until you can get a shaker!
  • Can’t find your cocktail jigger?
You use a cocktail jigger to measure the liquid for your drinks, but if you don’t have one then just use a measuring jug instead.
