Why this works so well

If you love the taste of passion fruit, then you will love this drink.

The balance of passion fruit in the Passoa liqueur to prosecco is just right, so you get all of the flavor of the passion fruit combined with the refreshing taste of prosecco.

With only two ingredients to this recipe, it’s the perfect stylish cocktail to make when you don’t have much time.

What is Passoa?

Passoa is a passion fruit liqueur, you’ll probably know it from the pornstar martini cocktail where it’s a crucial ingredient.

What can I use instead of passoa?

If you don’t have Passoa, then don’t worry, you can still make our passion fruit spritz, just replace it with passion fruit juice.

Should I use passion fruit juice or passion fruit puree?

We haven’t actually used either in our drink, we’ve used Passoa liqueur.

Not everyone either has Passoa or wants their cocktails to be as alcoholic, so you could use passion fruit juice instead.

We don’t recommend using passion fruit puree as the consistency is too heavy for this drink, you want it to be light and refreshing.

Champagne vs prosecco

This is totally personal taste.

What we will say is that champagne is expensive and you probably want to save it for when you drink it on its own.

Prosecco is much more affordable so is great for mixing with other drinks.

It just doesn’t need to be a choice between champagne or prosecco though, there are many good sparkling wines available.

Take a look at cava or crement, both would work very well in this passion fruit spritz.

Can I make it ahead?

Sadly no, you can’t.

Sparkling wine doesn’t keep its fizz once opened, so you need to serve and drink straight away.

But let’s not forget that this cocktail only takes 2 minutes to make, so it’s not such a big deal.

Just keep a bottle of fizz chilling in your fridge ready to serve.

Do I need to use ice?

No, don’t use ice as this will dilute the drink.

All champagnes and sparkling drinks are carefully blended so that the flavors are perfect and adding ice to your passion fruit spritz will change the flavors.

Just make sure you have a cold bottle of fizz, if you need to speed up

What glass should I use?

The obvious choice to use for a passion fruit spritz is a champagne glass, it works perfectly and looks stylish.

We opted to use a vintage champagne glass for that extra special feeling.
