We’ve been craving a caesar salad dressing for quite some time now.

We miss the fresh, lemony, garlicky, salty sauce that’s perfect drizzled over a crunchy salad or on a vegan chicken burger.

So, we created a vegan version of this household delicious dressing and we have to admit, it tastes so good!

You’ll make your vegan caesar dressing in just 5 minutes!

A freshly made bowl of vegan caesar dressing.

What is caesar dressing?

In traditional caesar dressing, you’ll find garlic, anchovy paste, freshly squeezed lemon, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, mayonnaise, Parmigiano-Reggiano, salt and black pepper.

Naturally being a vegan version, we won’t use all of these ingredients!

How can caesar dressing be vegan?

We’ve recreated this classic caesar dressing using vegan mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, capers, nutritional yeast, freshly squeezed lemon juice, white wine vinegar, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

And our version still retains the fresh, fishy, garlicky taste that Caeser salad dressing has.

Ingredients to for a homemade vegan caesar dressing recipe, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, capers, vegan mayo, black pepper, Dijon mustard, salt, fresh lemon and white wine vinegar.

Does Caesar dressing have anchovies?

Yes, the traditional version does, but our vegan caesar dressing doesn’t contain any anchovies.

We substitute anchovies with capers.

What are capers?

Capers immature green, unripened flower buds that come from the bush Capparis spinosa, hence ‘capers.’

After picking, they are usually pickled in vinegar or they’re preserved in salt.

We use them in our caesar dressing as they have a salty taste reminiscent of anchovies.

Can I use bottled lemon juice in this recipe?

When you make our vegan caesar dressing, it has to be fresh.

When you squeeze a fresh lemon juice, not only is the flavor far superior to using shop-bought, but the aroma is amazing.

Store-bought just can’t beat a freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Does Caesar dressing have dairy?

Traditional caesar dressing contains eggs in the mayonnaise but it’s easily made vegan friendly by using vegan mayo.

So this means that our creamy vegan caesar dressing is dairy-free.

How do I store it?

You can store your vegan caesar dressing in an airtight jar, in the fridge for up to a week.
